    F.DARREN SMITH Shihan  
 

was born in Canada, on the 4th of September, 1960.
He is a very senior ranking police officer with Toronto Police Service where he commands the Training and Education Unit and heads the Police College. In 2007, he began the Keisatsu (Police) Jujutsu Dojo at the Police College located in Toronto.

 
 

Darren Smith Shihan is the most seniore jujutsu student of Yamanaka Shihan.
Has studied martial arts since 1969, originally beginning his training with the oldest judo dojo in Toronto under Hatashita Sensei. Since 1978, he has trained under Yamanaka Saiko Shihan and was awarded Menkyo Kaiden in Yamanaka-Ha Shindo-Ryu Jujutsu in 2003.
He also trained extensively with Shintani Sensei at the former Japanese Cultural Centre in Hamilton. Shihan Smith also is Menkyo Kaiden Shihan in Hakko-Ryu Jujutsu and Shihan in Asayama Ichiden-Ryu (Chi-no-Maki).
He teaches throughout the world and his knowledge, practicality and humor on the tatami is appreciated by all.
